Plasma Screen Computer 1981Many people think that Plasma Televisions were just invented a few years ago. It is true that Plasma TV’s were not mass produced until the late 1990’s, but it is kind of an old invention. It was invented in July 1964 @ the University of Illinois. Its inventors are professors Donald Bitzer and Gene Slottow, and then graduate student Robert Willson. The first Plasma Display Panel had one single cell. Today’s Big Screen Plasma TV’s have millions of Cells. At first it was just points of light that were projected, then rudimentary shapes, Now the best thing to watch sports on is a Big Screen Plasma TV.

This is a picture of one of the first plasma displays. It was a 1981 computer. It was only a few inches wide.  We have come a long way. Now we have 102 inch 103 inch Plasma TV’s and even 150 inch Plasma TV’s. We can even make Plasma Big Screen TV’s 1 inch thick.
