Plasma TV Stand Buying Guide

With the way our economy is looking these days, it’s important that we get our
financial priorities straight, right? As crazy as it sounds, for many, a new
plasma TV is one of those financial priorities! Sure, a plasma TV is a “luxury”
item but with all TV going digital in 2009, why not give your entertainment
center a complete upgrade? As if you needed any other incentives, the football
and basketball seasons are upon us! What better way is there to watch the game,
than on a plasma screen TV? Alright, so let’s say you’ve got the TV all picked
out but you need a place to put it. Just because you spent half of your
paycheck on the television, doesn’t mean that you have to spend the other half
on a TV stand. Here are some things to
think about when searching for your perfect plasma TV stand.

Do you have the Space?: Choosing the right plasma TV stand is very
much dependent on how much space you have to work with. If you’re planning on setting up your TV in the bedroom, perhaps some sort
of wall mount is your best bet. There’s no sense in clearing off space on top
of your bureau to make room for the TV. If you do have some space on your
bureau, it might be most cost effective for you to just stick with the
stationary base that comes with the TV. These are generally in the same finish
as the TV and look sleek and stylish. If you are setting up your flat screen in a rec room or den, it’s important to
establish beforehand, a space where you want the TV stand to go. For instance,
a corner TV stand is a great option if you have an unconventionally shaped room
or if your available space is confined to the corner of a room. It’s essential
that you make sure your TV isn’t too wide for the particular corner. If you
have a bit more space to work with, take a look at some extra-wide TV stands.
Extra-wide TV stands are made with Plasma TV’s in mind! Typically these guys
are a bit pricier, but they tend to offer you more in the way of storage space and extra features. TV cabinets are
also great if you have more space to work with. Often much nicer looking than a
TV stand, you get both multimedia storage space plus you can more easily
customize the look of your TV stand to fit your style and decor.

Bells and Whistles: If you’re on a budget, keep in mind less is
more. There are plenty of basic, bare bones TV stands out there that offer you
space for your TV, a tiny bit of multi-media storage and nothing else. It’s OK
to use the stationary base that comes with the TV and just prop it up on top of
the stand. If you want to do a little bit more with your entertaining space,
consider a TV stand with an integrated mount. TV stands with integrated mounts
provide you more multimedia storage space as well as a built-in mount for the TV
-an effective way to eliminate clutter. You can also get a swivel TV stand for
more mobility, or an expandable TV stand if you have future plans to upgrade.

High Style on a Budget: You’d be surprised at the number of stylish
TV stands at affordable prices. For less than $150 you can find a sleek metal
and frosted glass plasma TV stand.
Generally speaking, the more affordable TV stands are going to be made of
materials like aluminum, chrome, or some type of wood veneer, which isn’t to say
that they are of a poor quality, you just have to realize that you aren’t
getting a TV stand made out of an ultra-premium hardwood. All you really need
is a TV stand big enough to fit your specific plasma and one that looks good in
the room.

It is true that Plasma TV’s were not mass produced until the late 1990’s, but it is kind of an old invention. It was invented in July 1964 @ the University of Illinois. Its inventors are professors Donald Bitzer and Gene Slottow, and then graduate student Robert Willson. The first Plasma Display Panel had one single cell. Today’s Big Screen Plasma TV’s have millions of Cells. At first it was just points of light that were projected, then rudimentary shapes, Now the best thing to watch sports on is a Big Screen Plasma TV.

This is a picture of one of the first plasma displays. It was a 1981 computer. It was only a few inches wide. We have come a long way. Now we have 102 inch 103 inch Plasma TV’s and even 150 inch Plasma TV’s. We can even make Plasma Big Screen TV’s 1 inch thick.
